Mark Isalan
Reader in Gene Network Engineering
Dr Mark Isalan is a Reader in Gene Network Engineering at Imperial College London and runs a research group in systems and synthetic biology in the Department of Life Sciences. His research interests are protein and gene network engineering, aiming to design biological systems that behave predictably and robustly (http://www.imperial.ac.uk/people/m.isalan). As a member of the MycoSynVac consortium, MI is contributing to the design of biosafety gene circuits as well as tools for the conditional expression of antigens. These will help optimise the properties of the synthetic vaccine through applying bioengineering techniques.
